While checking out Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective at the Denver Art Museum, I had the unexpected pleasure of peeking into the personal collection of pins worn by Madeleine Albright. I don't think anyone in history had to be more thoughtful when selecting her jewelry. She shook up politics when she wore a snake pin in response to Iraq's government-controlled press publishing a poem denouncing her as an "unparalleled serpent." Albright's pins came to be more of a statement than her actual words. As the first female Secretary of State and the highest ranking women in the history of the US Government, it's absolutely fitting that she would speak in jewels! More on Madeleine here.
Her story, Read My Pins: Stories From a Diplomat's Jewelry Box, is a fascinating one, and her pins tell it beautifully! Currently on display at the Denver Art Museum until June 17th, 2012.
Below are my favorites from Madeleines personal collection!
Is anyone else totally inspired to rock their pins? Me too.
Pinned,
-C
