THE IDEA
Lately, it seems, fashion has been activated. Neoprene, mesh, and rope have infiltrated wardrobes of the ultra-hip in the form of dresses, trousers, and tops. Naturally, jewelry and accessories are following suit. Youthful and rebellious, this trend is an over exaggeration of very basic materials in new and confident ways. An evolution of the tribal trend, sports-inspired collections transition this look from boho to urban, turning function into fashion.
HOW TO STYLE
Multi-colored polypropylene cords piled with a variety of chain sizes are urban tribal (Assad Mounser) and work best in the junior market. The same stretch cords covered with leather is contemporary (Jaclyn Mayer). Leather tubing looks active when tied in an overhand knot (Confetti System). Multi-colored strands of rope or stretch plastic tied in various knots creates interest in simple materials (Lanno and Sequence). Oversized hair elastic silhouette, with narrow black stretch cord and metal closure is fresh when paired with ornate metal spikes (Noir).
