STUDIO VISIT: Micha Design

Every time I step foot in the Micha Design studio I get giddy with excitement. Chains, beads, leather, crystals, ropes, pendants, charms and countless jump rings, hooks, and clasps fill the space in neatly organized compartments. Inspirational tear sheets hang from the walls along side her current seasons designs. Orders are being filled and new designs are being created. Part workshop, part showroom, it's simply a jewelry designers heaven.

As much as the materials make my heart pitter patter, the real cause for excitement is Micha herself. She's a talented, spunky, down-to-earth designer with a zest for life that is absolutely c o n t a g i o u s. Her free spirit and slightly off sense of style comes through in her designs and makes for eye catching pieces. When you wear a Micha Design piece, prepare to be stopped in awe over a truly unique bauble.

Preparing the Pool Show Vegas in August ( look book and line sheets, invites ect. ), fulfilling orders, and designing the Spring Summer 2013 collection.

I get inspired by colors , shape and materials and never know what I come up with till the design is done...

Different! Meaning, having a unique taste and not afraid to have their own style and wearing something out of the box, but getting tons of compliments for it!

EVERYBODY!

Well I did not pick it, it picked me. I fell into it by recycling other peoples jewelry for myself and got asked often "Where can I get it?" So I started designing for other people but needed more supplies and therefore started going to swap meets and finding other suppliers. I got a booth at the Thread Show where the response was amazing, got featured in magazines, and picked up by boutiques and stylists, which all made me think that I  should do this as a full time job!I am in love with wired shaped gem stones ( like petrified wood, cobble stone, shiny disco look glass beads etc) pared with unexpected materials.
